Project Description

Dreamtree uses the form of a tree as its visible structure, but its essence is a visualized memory network. The branching lines echo the extensions of neural pathways in deep awareness, and the dream seeds placed at their intersections act as nodes that store memory fragments and serve as points where dreams become touchable. In the booklet, this world is introduced through a narrative sequence that follows the process of falling asleep, approaching, brightening, and receding, revealing that dreams are not external images but the shapes of one’s own memories when activated. In the interactive system, when the viewer’s gesture or movement approaches a dream seed, the node activates and a small memory window appears at that point; nearby nodes respond slightly, forming a temporarily illuminated cluster. When the viewer moves away, the fragments fade and trigger a sinking reaction on the granular ground below, symbolizing memories returning to depth. The system is not designed for operating a tree, but for allowing viewers to experience how attention shapes memory: closeness lights it, distance fades it, and fragments gather or scatter accordingly. Ultimately, Dreamtree aims to help viewers see that the shape of a dream comes from within themselves, and that memory shifts with attention as inner perception becomes momentarily visible.
