Electronic Cookie – Physical Display: Turning smartphone data into a cookie you can literally hold.

Project Description

Electronic Cookie is a data-visualization work that turns my smartphone usage into a form of “digital food.” I divided my weekly screen time into several main categories: social media, studying, email, games, and other functions, and organized these numbers into a clear Excel chart. Each category is represented with a different color, allowing me to see directly how much “electronic time” I consume in a day. Using perler beads, I combined these pixel-like color blocks into a small rectangular “electronic cookie.” This cookie symbolizes that using a smartphone is like eating snacks—moderation can provide energy, but excessive consumption leads to burden, addiction, and negative effects on one’s health and daily life. Because of this metaphor, I also designed a package for the “electronic cookie,” humorously comparing heavy phone use to taking in too many “electronic calories.” At its core, this work is a form of self-reminder. There were days when I used my phone for as long as 18 hours, and Electronic Cookie pushes me to reconsider my “digital intake,” reduce dependence on my phone, and focus more on real-world experiences.
